Description: Banished from the peaceful and highly advanced simian Planet E in the Geisty Solar System, the mutant mad scientist Dr. Gori and his brutish gorilla-like assistant Karras (Ra in the Japanese version) search for a new world to rule after Gori's plot to conquer Planet E had been foiled by its government. Traveling to Earth in their flying saucer, the blond alien apeman is captivated by its beauty but appalled by its inhabitants' misuse of its environment, leading to severe pollution (a huge topic back when this series was made, since Tokyo in Japan was the most polluted city in the world at the time), so humankind must be quickly conquered if this planet is to remain habitable.

Description: Eclipse Comics published comics from the late 1970’s until they folded in 1993. They were one of the larger independent comic publishers of the time and are notable for publishing classics such as Alan Moore's Miracleman.

Description: “Workers of the World, Unite!” is a political illustration by Walter Crane, created in 1891, and it’s one of the clearest visual statements of his socialist beliefs. Crane was a major figure in the Arts and Crafts Movement, but he was also deeply involved in left-wing politics. He believed art should serve society, not just decorate it, and this piece is a good example of that idea in action.

Description: Geographically, Washington is dramatic and varied. The Cascade Mountains cut the state in two. Western Washington is known for evergreen forests, coastal rain, islands, and the Puget Sound, while Eastern Washington is much drier, with farmland, rolling hills, and desert-like areas. The state has volcanoes such as Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens, and Mount Adams, and Mount Rainier dominates the skyline around Seattle.

Description: Geographically, it has more variety than almost any other state. California includes sandy beaches, rugged cliffs, fertile valleys, deserts, and high mountains. The Sierra Nevada range contains Mount Whitney, the highest point in the contiguous U.S., while Death Valley holds the lowest and hottest point in North America. Much of the state has a Mediterranean-style climate, with wet winters and dry summers, though deserts and alpine regions break that pattern.

Description: Geographically, BC is one of the most rugged and scenic regions in North America. It has a deeply indented coastline filled with islands, fjords, and inlets; dense temperate rainforests; and multiple mountain ranges, including the Coast Mountains, Rocky Mountains, and Columbia Mountains. The interior includes plateaus, grasslands, lakes, and semi-arid valleys, while the north is remote and sparsely populated.

Description: Geographically, Oregon packs a lot into a single state. The Pacific coastline runs the full length of its western edge and is almost entirely public land. Inland, the Willamette Valley is fertile and heavily populated, while the Cascade Mountains divide the state. East of the Cascades, the land becomes drier, more open, and sparsely populated, with high desert, plateaus, and ranch country. Oregon has rainforests, volcanoes, rivers, and deep forests, including Crater Lake, the deepest lake in the U.S.
